Mother Earth
Motherhood is a sacrifice. On veranda in Hawaii the birds come to feed. Each year there have been one or two mother birds. When you see a mother bird, plagued by her progeny for food, with five baby birds, some of them bigger than she is, flopping all over her-“Well,” you think, “this is the symbol of motherhood, this giving of your substance and every damn thing to your progeny.” That is why the mother becomes the symbol of Mother Earth. She is the one who has given birth to us and on whom we live and on whose body we find our food.
A Hero is usually associated with male figures but giving birth is definitely a heroic deed,in that it is the giving over of oneself to the life of another.we have lost that truth in this society of ours, where it demands more heroic to go out into the world and make money than it is to raise making money gets more advertisement. You Know the old saying:if a dog bites a man, that’s not a story, but if a man bites a dog you have got a story there and in the same way writers got their story idea.So the thing that happened and happened and happened,no matter how heroic it may be, is not news.Motherhood has lost its novelty.
